The Gentle Water Exercise program in Healesville is a low impact, group exercise program specifically designed for people with arthritis and other joint problems.

Water exercise is an excellent way for people with arthritis to build strength, ease stiff joints and improve fitness.

This exercise group is led by a Physiotherapist. All participants need to undergo a physiotherapy assessment prior to commencing the Gentle Water Exercise Program.

Priority is given to health care card and pension card holders, as well as low income earners.

Water exercise can be beneficial for people with any form of arthritis. It is particularly helpful for people:

  • with arthritis in several joints as all joints can be exercised at once
  • with conditions affecting feet, knees, hips and back
  • preparing for or recovering from joint replacement surgery
  • who find it difficult or painful to exercise on land.

All participants must undergo a physiotherapy assessment prior to commencing the Gentle Water Exercise program.
