Experts are urging women in the Yarra Valley to ensure they are looking after their health, highlighting a free service available in Healesville and Yarra Junction.

Michelle Cornelius is one of two community health nurses providing the flexible, friendly service and said the Women’s Health Clinic provides a comfortable environment for women, by women.

“We know that many women are busy and often put others needs first, but it’s important to remember to look after yourself and your own health and wellbeing,” Ms Cornelius said.

Her top tips for staying healthy include:

  • Take time out for yourself
  • Catch up with friends
  • Exercise regularly
  • Stay up to date with your Pap tests and breast health.

The clinic is available Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm in both Healesville and Yarra Junction.

Services are free of charge and include:

  • Pap tests
  • Continence assessment and management
  • Screening for sexually transmissible infections
  • Pregnancy testing and counselling

The clinic can also provide information and advice about contraception, menopause, breast health, family planning, fertility awareness, menstrual health issues, sexuality and safe sex practices.
