The Commission called for a Statewide service for people living with co-occurring substance use and mental illness. In March 2022 Turning Point, Eastern Health’s Statewide centre for addiction treatment and research, was appointed to run this Centre. The Hamilton Centre was launched in 2023 and now leads research in addiction and mental health, supports a Statewide workforce response to dual diagnosis through education and training, service navigation and mentorship to the Victorian mental health and AOD workforce.
The Hamilton centre supports a Statewide clinical network through partnerships networks at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Eastern Health, Western Health, Austin Health, and Goulburn Valley Health.
