The Eastern Health Wantirna palliative care inpatient unit is a 32 bed specialist palliative care unit. We provide care for patients with life limiting illnesses. People are admitted for various reasons, including symptom control, end of life care, respite, and assessment. The unit is not able to offer long term care. Some patients come to us to die however others are able to return home with support.

Whilst you are still capable of discussing your healthcare with your doctors, your advance care plan will not be used. It is only used when you are unable to communicate your own decisions or lose the ability to make decisions due to dementia or some other condition
